The greatest warfare of our day can be summed up in the battle of the flesh versus the Spirit. In other words, the battle is between what you want to do (in your humanity) and what God would have you to do (by His Spirit). This monster of a battle has been going on since the Garden of Eden. Humanity lost the first round in the Garden of Eden and is yet losing the rounds of today.
Victory
The victory over your flesh is not an easy battle, and you must never believe that in your own strength you can defeat the wiles of the devil. No! The battle is a raging one, indeed!
Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
In order for you to defeat Satan’s plans to steal, kill and destroy, you must walk in the Spirit of God. This is no easy thing. For this walking is not merely knowing of a God or being able to say that you used to go to Sunday school and church.
No, this knowing is not being able to say you love God or want God to answer your desperate plea or prayer. No. That is “knowing OF God”.
When you truly know God, you are in a daily relationship with Him, and your first priority is your allegiance to God and the standard of His Holy Word.
I find that today many borrow God. Many need God when the situation has reached a point of no return.
Many reach out to borrow God when the diagnosis is dire. Many reach out to God during the extremes of joy and sorrow.
Then there are others who reach out to God the moment that they wake up in the morning.
Yes, there are those who know God and are known of God in an intimate way. There are those who live to do that which is pleasing in the sight of God and that which will bring God glory.
If you live after the lust of your flesh, the Bible presents a beginning list of those things that you will indulge in.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21 KJV)
Powerful
The works of the flesh are dangerously powerful. Yet, there is a weapon that is used to perfectly defeat the works of the flesh. They are the works of God’s Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22, 23 KJV)
You cannot live in both worlds at the same time. The world of the flesh will never coexist with the world of the Spirit.
Where will you choose to live? Remember, it is one or the other –– not both. As you live, you will bring forth the fruit thereof. Choose wisely. RESPICE FINEM.
