A 23-year-old Sandys man will learn his fate on Friday after he admitted receiving stolen goods belonging to the man who was trying to help him turn his life around.
During the daily Plea Court session, Crown Prosecutor Carrington Mahoney told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner that on the afternoon of April 17 this year, Daniel Hill Sr. returned to his Southampton home and discovered it had been broken into.
It was then he found an Apple laptop, an iPad and a pair of Nike sneakers had been stolen. The items were valued at $4,200.
It was subsequently discovered by Police that Ashley Burrows and Troy Robert Harris, of Broome Street, were at the home at some point during the date in question.
Ms Burrows told Police that she rode on the back of the motorcycle of Troy Robert Harris to where she believed to be the home of his uncle. Ms Burrows then waited outside and said Harris eventually exited the home with a green bag.
They then went to Bermuda Gold Standard where Burrows secured a $575 loan with the electronic items on behalf of Harris because he did not have any identification.
A search of Harris’ room by his mother and Mr. Hill also discovered the stolen Nike sneakers.
When questioned by Police, Harris admitted stealing the items and said that Ms Burrows had no knowledge of what he had done and was not an accomplice.
Mr. Mahoney also told Mr. Warner that Mr. Hill had been assisting Harris with trying to get his life on track after being released from prison. He was also on probation during the time of the incident.
Mr. Warner said he will hand down a sentence on Friday, May 16 and remanded the man into custody.
