A young Bermudian tennis player is continuing to impress in the UK after being one of three people awarded with a Civic Award from the Radcliffe on Trent Parish Council.

The 2014 Young Achievers Award was presented to MoZiah Selassie in recognition of his tennis success as well as his involvement in the local community.

The former Somerset Primary and Saltus student recently competed in El Salvador where he represented Bermuda at the World Junior Tennis Championships.

He is also the first reserve on the Nottinghamshire Under-14 Team in the UK Aegon County
Championship, and is also on the West Bridgford’s Under-16 Club Aegon tennis team.

In addition to playing tennis, MoZiah is a volunteer at the West Bridgford Tennis Centre, where he assists in coaching the Under-Eights, and has already passed his Tennis Leaders certification.

Selassie was recently part of a group of selected students chosen to spend a day at the world-renowned St. George’s Park sports development and FA training facility, where he got to participate in various sports development activities.
