A total of 29 gymnasts will travel to Orlando, Florida to compete in the USAIGC World Gymnastics Championships from today to July 3.
This is the pinnacle competition of the year for the Bermuda Gymnastics Team.
The girls had to earn a minimum qualifying score at the International Gymnastics Challenge (Bermuda, November 2013), the Manhattan Classic (NYC, February 2014), or at our May 31 In-House Competition.
The athletes who qualified did so through hard work and dedication, training upwards of 17 hours per week.
The gymnasts will take on 1,200 top performers from all over the United States, plus Canada, England and South Africa at this major event.
The week-long competition consists of five different levels of artistic gymnastics as well as a rhythmic gymnastics session.
Gemma Lightbourne, who will be representing Bermuda in rhythmic gymnastics at Commonwealth Games, will be participating in this event at the Premier (highest) level.
