A US couple that tied the knot during last year’s Cup Match festivities have returned to the island to mark their first anniversary.
Matt Salka and his wife Veronica flew into the island Monday to mark a year of married life together.
It also happened to be Mr Salka’s 35th birthday.
Mr Salka, who spent his childhood in Bermuda, told the Sun: “It’s one big celebration.
“We love coming back to Bermuda and it is becoming a regular thing now.
“For some reason I just have this huge connection to this place and there is nowhere I would rather be than here for our first anniversary.
“It is such a wonderful place, and we love the people.”
Mr Salka, an IT worker who lives in Colorado, has been coming back to Bermuda every Cup Match for the last five years.
He and his wife have been joined by four friends on this year’s trip to the island.
Mr Salka added: “We are hoping to make it down to the cricket on Thursday.
“And then we’ll be looking forward to Non Mariners day which is always a lot of fun.
“And then we head back to the US on Monday.
“But I’m sure we will be back again.”
