Cop charged with sex offences against child

A number of plain clothed and uniformed Police officers were present in Magistrates’ Court as one of their colleagues faced a number of charges stemming from allegations of sexual assault of a child. 

The 36-year-old Paget man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of coercing a child under the age of 16 to touch his genitals with her mouth, while he was in a position of trust between November 1, 2011 and November 30,2011.

He is also accused of having unlawful carnal knowledge with the girl on four occasions between November 1, 2011 and April this year.

He was not required to enter a plea as the charges are indictable and must be heard in Supreme Court.

Represented by Kamal Worrell, he was released on $5000 bail and is due to reappear on August 12.
