PRESS RELEASE

Bermuda swimmers and track and field stars shined very brightly in Mexico and Barbados winning gold, silver and bronze medals.

Minister of Community, Culture and Sports Wayne Scott today extended congratulations to the junior track and field and swim teams for their outstanding performances at the Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships (CAC) and the Caribbean Island Swimming Championships (CISC) held in Mexico and Barbados respectively.

Minister Scott stated, “I am thrilled to learn of the outstanding success that our young athletes accomplished at the CAC and CISC.  We are so very proud of them.  Our young athletes have had a tremendous year and are making such an impact on the world sporting stage.  I am inspired by their dedication to their respective sports and their commitment to training to compete internationally. With their accomplishments at CARIFTA in April and now CAC and CISC, we look forward seeing the results of their performance at the next level of competition, the World Youth Olympics in China and the World Junior Championships in Oregon.”

Minister Scott added, “It’s going to be a great summer for the junior athletes and we will be cheering for them every step of their journey.”
