The Bermuda Shakespeare Schools’ Festival is inviting theatrically minded students to attend a workshop led by choreographer Steve Kirkham.

Kirkham works with the award-winning UK theatre group Frantic Assembly and has choreographed productions in the UK and internationally.

He is currently working with the artistic director Scott Graham as an associate movement director on The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.

The workshops, which will be held from February 3 to February  6, 2014, will provide opportunities for up to 200 students from Saltus Grammar School, Cedarbridge Academy, The Bermuda High School, The Berkeley Institute, Warwick Academy, Somersfield Academy, and eight middle schools, to explore the physicality of theatre and learn from one of the best in the industry.

The workshops will also allow drama teachers to participate. The workshops are part of The Bermuda Shakespeare School’s Festival (BSSF) commitment to providing our youth with exposure to professional theatre.

Frantic Assembly was formed by Scott Graham with Steven Hoggett and Vicki Middleton in 1994 and continues to collaborate with many of today’s most inspiring artists.

Having toured extensively throughout the UK, Frantic Assembly has built an enviable reputation.

The company has also performed, created and collaborated in 30 different countries across the world.

Learn and train

In addition to its productions, Frantic Assembly operates an extensive Learn  and Train programme, introducing 6,000 participants a year to the company’s process of creating theatre in a wide variety of settings.

Frantic Assembly also delivers Ignition, an innovative vocational training project for young men, particularly targeting those with little previous experience of the arts.
