The Bermuda Gombey Revue took place on Pier 6 on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00pm, with visitors and locals having their very own special performance by the H&H Gombey Troupe.  This revue was of special meaning to the organizers and the local spectators, since the H&H Gombey Troupe was affiliated with former MP Louise A. Jackson, who passed away at the beginning of this year, at the age of eighty-three.

Louise Jackson was an integral part in making the Gombey dance a legitimate art form in her school, The Jackson School of Performing Arts.  In 2008, Jackson participated in the filming of a documentary titled, Behind the Mask: Bermuda Gombeys Past, Present, and Future, created by the Dept. of Community and Cultural Affairs.  In the film, Ms. Jackson spoke about the history of the Gombeys and their evolvement to present times.

At her funeral on January 10th, in honor of Ms. Jackson's influence and leadership within the Gombey community, the H&H Troupe formed a guard of honor at the entrance of the Most Holy Trinity Cathedral, when her casket was brought out to the hearse.  It was a moving gesture and testament to Louise Jackson's importance to the Gombey community, and Bermuda.
