Rowan Ramotar is well known on the party scene in Bermuda as the man in charge of Wild Apache Promotions. He has planned countless parties, concerts and events over the years including Cup Match Fever and Veterans in Action. Ramotar, 42, has brought renowned DJs to Bermuda including DJ Young Chow from Hot 97 in New York and DJ Spin Citi. Both DJs have toured with reggae artist Gyptian. Ramotar holds the annual Veterans in Action Old School Reggae Concert with partner Declan Harris every November. This year’s event will feature Half Pint, Courtney Melody and Admiral Tibet on November 19. It is the perfect time for old school reggae lovers to enjoy live music. In addition, Ramotar is also promoting his annual Halloween party, which will be held at Carriage House in St George’s on November 1. The theme is Witches, Pimps and Tramps. Ramotar is father to four-year-old Mahlani and husband to Ayanaa. By day, he is the manager of Somers Supermart in St George’s and by night, he plans some of the best parties in Bermuda.’ Interview by the Bermuda Sun’s Mikaela Ian Pearman.

Your earliest memory?
Growing up in Jamaica. Didn’t have much but I was very happy!

What were you like in school?
I was a bit of a nerd and a book worm (lol).

Who is your hero/heroine?
Nelson Mandela?

Which human trait do you dislike the most?
Dishonesty.

Human trait you value most in others?
Honesty.

Which film character would you be?
Superman. I love helping others.

When did you last laugh out loud? And why?
Saturday, watching my four year old daughter dance. She is funny. 

Do you believe in fate?
 No. I believe we chart our own destiny.

Your greatest fear?
Not seeing my daughter graduate from college.

Most embarrassing moment?
 Dropping my dinner plate at mess hall. Everyone stood up and clapped. I later found out it’s an Acadia University tradition.

Property aside, what’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought?
Ask my wife. Hint, it’s on her finger.

Your ultimate ambition?
To bring a first class soca show to Bermuda.

Your most unappealing habit?
 Impatience.

Describe yourself in three words.
Kind, Caring, Forgiving.

Best party you’ve ever been to?
ATI in Negril, Jamaica.

Worst job you’ve ever done?
Helping my dad clear out miles and miles of water trenches. It was very murky and the sun was hot!

Biggest regret?
I don’t have any regrets. I respect the decisions I have made in life.

Closest you’ve ever come to death?
Bike accident at 19. Guy found me lying in the road. The joy of pack racing.

Your desert island song?
Three Little Birds by Bob Marley.

What animal would you be and why?
A bird. I would fly above everything and poop on those that irritated me.

What do you do if you can’t sleep?
Watch CNN.

If you had a time machine, where would you go?
To Israel during the time of Jesus. I would love to have witness some of his miracles.

Most unpleasant exchange you’ve have had with a person?

It takes two to get an argument started. I usually smile at ignorance.

Best advice you have ever taken?
From my partner Declan Harris, “Lets do Veteran in Action”.

If you weren’t grocery store manager, what would you be?
A full time promoter

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
I just noticed I’m starting to have a belly. I’m working on it though.

What do you like best about your appearance?
Ask my wife. Lol

What’s your attitude towards money?
It come and it goes but it can’t buy happiness.

Which cartoon character is most like you?

 Road Runner. I am always on the move.

Nicest thing anyone has ever said to you?

Thank you. Define romantic love. That tingling feeling inside each time you see each other.

Most treasured possession?
My family.

A dream location for a home?

Junction, St Elizabeth Jamaica. The mountain views are amazing.

What keeps you up at night?

CNN

Guilty pleasure?
Grape Nut Ice Cream Name some favourite: TV shows/TV series: America got talent, X-Factor Movies: Angels and Demons, Davinci Code, Lord of the Rings, The Hangover Dishes: Ackee and Saltfish (codfish) jerk Chicken, Peas ‘n’ Rice.

Your attitude to exercise?
Very important to longevity.

Graduating from University

People who complain about everything yet are the last person to give a helping hand!

Build my dream home.

Racing at 160kph on Highway 2000.

How much I gave, not what I took

Most important lesson life has taught you?

You want things done right you have to do it yourself sometimes

What do you love the most about being a party promoter?
Seeing people having a good time.

What’s the easiest/hardest part?
 Easiest part is promoting. Hardest part is putting the right mix of talent together so the patrons can be satisfied.
