Regina’s Miss Bermuda dress to hit the limelight
The silk dress created by Bermudian Regina Simmons will be seen by millions as part of the Miss World Competition taking place in Bali tomorrow.
Ms Simmons is hotly anticipating the results of the World Fashion Designer part of the competition when her dress will be worn by Miss Bermuda Katherine Arnfield.
The dress, pictured above just before completion, is charcoal grey with a metallic shimmer in Dupioni silk.
A hematite bead chain drapes around the waist.
Simmons, who has only been designing seriously since February of last year, said that while she is hopeful her dress will take the top prize, she is aware that she is up against some very stiff competition. “The competition in other countries is huge — you have hundreds of people submit designs so their dress can be worn at the Miss World Pageant so I have to keep it all in perspective. I am happy being nominated and it has definitely created a bench mark for me to grow from.”
As for Miss Bermuda, she currently stands at position #16 out of 130 girls for the People’s Choice Award so she has a good chance of making the finals. She needs your vote...
