Ghosts and ghouls will be stalking the grounds of Cedar Hill tomorrow as one property is turned into a freakish haunted house.

Guests of the house include flesh-eating zombies, foaming at the mouth ware wolves and even Count Dracula himself.

You are invited to join them… if you dare. The house has been created by Cal Simons who has built up the Hallowe’en event each year for the past ten years. What started off as a few decorations in the yard has evolved in to a full haunted house.

Mr Simons said: “I used to teach at West End School so we used to do a haunted house at the school then I decided that I would take it and set something on up on my porch and dress up in some kind of costume and invite people over. I moved it to my garage and yard and it has grown ever since.

Excited

“The kids get really excited they come up to me and say ‘Mr Simons! Are you doing your haunted house again this year?’ and I say yeah I’ll be there!”

Children who come through will get to have a short tour of the haunted house and will be given some candy too. Mr Simons said you can expect some scary surprises.

Mr Simons, who now works for the Department, Youth and Sports, said: “It’s scary but it’s fun.

“I have different areas in the house — there is a zombie area, another part is a graveyard scene and Count Dracula is sitting off in his coffin. It is stimulating I’ll say that!”

“It’s nice — my whole family is involved in it. My wife gives out candy, my daughters work in it dressed up in a costume, my brother monitors how many go in.

“It is like a family fun thing to do.”

The event is free and takes place between 6:30pm and 9pm Thursday evening.  The address is 44 Cedar Hill (near Purvis School).
