Local music promoter Tony Brannon personally handed Liam Gallagher, formerly of Oasis — historically one of the UK’s most successful bands — a copy of the John Lennon tribute CD recently produced in Bermuda.

Mr Brannon was on a visit to the UK promoting the album in the studios of the British Broadcasting Corporation when he bumped into the former superstar and ex band mates Gem Archer and Andy Bell. All three are now in the band Beady Eye.

The band members were being interviewed by Andy Newmark, an American musician who is a citizen of Bermuda.

Newmark featured on the album Lennon Bermuda which was produced on the island last year. The album  was followed by a tribute concert with Bermudians performing the songs they recorded for the album.

“The former Oasis boys were thrilled to meet Andy Newmark and Liam referenced Andy’s days with Sly Stone and of course Double Fantasy with Lennon,” said Mr Brannon.

Mr Gallagher and his brother Noel were avid fans of The Beatles and Liam often wore the same type of tinted round glasses that were Lennon’s signature.

During his trip to the studios, Mr Brannon caught up with the voice of BBC Business on Radio Four —Today Programme presenter Simon Jack who used to live on in Bermuda.

Mr Jack said: “I am very excited about this CD and I can tell you, Tony Brannon is doing a  brilliant job for Bermuda here in London because he’s talking to Maconie and Radcliffe who are the most respected music chroniclers in this country.”
