It’s not too late to get in on the Delta Air Lines seat sale to New York LaGuardia.
It has extended it until March 25. This is great news as the price remains at $280 for a round trip ticket.
This is the second time the airline has extended the deadline from its original date of March 18.
APD increase
Starting April 1, the air passenger duty in the UK will be going up.
On British Airways flights to Bermuda, the UK government tax on the portion of your ticket on the reduced rate will go from £65 to £67 and the standard rate from £130 to £134.
The Association of British Travel Agents has launched a campaign to get it frozen, pointing out that when it was introduced in 1994, the rate was just £5 for the UK/EU and £10.
Carnival
An additional 12 cruises have been cancelled at Carnival.
The cruise line will have both the Carnival Triumph and Carnival Sunshine will be out of service for an extended period of time.
After the mishap on the Carnival Triumph, the line had further problems last week.
The Carnival Dream got stuck in St Maarten with generator problems and the Carnival Legend had thruster problems forcing the ship to cancel a stop in Grand Cayman.
The company will be “making significant investments” to make sure that more services can run when they ships have to rely on emergency power.
It is also going to upgrade the ships’ fire prevention, detection and suppression systems.
The Carnival Triumph will now return to service on June 3, 2013, with a total of 10 additional cruises being cancelled.
Guests on the affected voyages will receive a full refund, reimbursement for non-refundable transportation costs and a 25 per cent discount on a future four- to five-day cruise.
Carnival Sunshine, which is has not had problems but is undergoing dry dock for a makeover, will now enter service May 5, 2013, following the cancellation of two European cruises.
Guests on the cancelled Carnival Sunshine voyages will receive a full refund, plus reimbursement for any non-refundable travel costs.
Additionally, they will receive a 25 percent discount on a future cruise.
Gerry Cahill, president and CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines, said in a press release: “We sincerely regret cancelling these cruises and disrupting our guests’ vacation plans. Our team of experts has worked virtually around the clock to determine the best set of solutions and rapidly develop an effective implementation plan for both of these ships.
“Moving forward, we will have the ability to source materials and schedule improvements much more expediently, thus minimizing the scheduling impact on other vessels.
Alamo
The rental car company is running its regular $10 off a three-day weekend specials. You have to book now through April 6.
You can also get $20 off a weekly rental (five days or longer). You can book that for trips between March 24 and April 27, 2013.
If you’re interested in a road trip, the company has a $19.95 per day deal for renting a car in Florida and driving it out of state to be dropped off elsewhere. This deal is good from April 1 to May 31.
