Second Lennon tribute will be ‘as exciting as the first’

The second annual John Lennon tribute concert will take place on September 21 in the Botanical Gardens. 

The first event was put on by Tony Brannon and Freisenbruch Meyer and saw a full house at the garden. 

It was the first Bermuda tribute to John Lennon and featured Maxi Priest, Biggie Irie, Heather Nova, Joy Barnum, Chewstick and many more performers. 

Mr Brannon announced the concert date on Saturday and said: “On September 21, 2013 Freisenbruch Brannon Media will present the second annual Lennon Bermuda Peace Day Concert in the Bermuda Botanical Gardens. 

“This year’s concert will be as exciting as the first. 

“Last year’s charity concert raised close to $100,000 and this year we hope to do even better with your support.”

There will be special flight and hotel packages for the event, which will be announced at a later date. 

In addition to the concert, Mr Brannon said a 34 track CD will be released in the UK on April 29 featuring Bermudian and international artists. 

Also, a book called Lennon Bermuda was written by Scott Neil and illustrated by Graham Foster. 

Lennon’s wife Yoko Ono wrote the foreword. 

“In addition the tracks will be available on iTunes and the book will be available on Amazon either via hard copy or downloadable to a device such as a Kindle. 

“Furthermore, The Bermuda Department of Tourism are sponsoring four free trips to Bermuda on British Airways to coincide with the concert.

“Inserted randomly into the Lennon Bermuda box sets will be two pairs of tickets including hotel stay. 

“This should be an exciting promotion and we hope will create great interest in Lennon Bermuda and indeed Bermuda itself.”
