The Norwegian Dawn is to dock at King’s Wharf in Dockyard to make it easier to finish work repairing the nearby Heritage Wharf.
Minister of Public Works Trevor Moniz said: “While we had scheduled effectively to complete works with her in place it is easier for both security and noise constraints if she is placed a little further away from the works.”
Mr Moniz explained that the fire-hit Grandeur of the Seas, which was due to visit Bermuda, was undergoing repairs and the berthing space it would have used would be free for two weeks.
Mostly complete
He added that work on the breasting dolphins was expected to be finished for the next visit of the huge Norwegian Breakaway on Wednesday, and that piling work on the northern dolphin was on target to be mostly complete by the end of next week.
Mr Moniz said: “Generally, we are aiming for 180 feet down which means that we are setting the piles in the volcanic rock below the Bermuda’s stone deposits that can contain cave features even at great depth.”
