What a debut! Viney gets two 200s

There were plenty of 200s to go around on the opening night of the East End Winter League at Southside Bowl. Quinton Hayward topped all bowlers with a 253, but Matthew Viney was the only person to get more than one 200 as he rolled a 207 and 202. He also had the high series with a 600.

Maryellen Jackson (214) was the only woman to get a 200 and she was also the high series leader with a 529.

John Simons (225), Elvin Thomas (216), Pete Saunders (212), Lawrence Smith (212) and Elliot Douglas (204) all joined the 200 club last Monday.

Other top scores by women were had by Carolyn Amick (189) and Laurie Simons (178).

Scores: Pin Snipers 7, Habetes 2; Spare Collectors 5, Fireballs 4; TLC 6, Ten Pins 3; Up-N-Coming 3, Here We Come 6; Trailblazers 5, See-Breeze Strikers 4.

Barritt's League

Sparks find carved out a narrow lead on the first of a 30-week season at Warwick Lanes. Sparks lit up Haascobe 26 to 4 while both Team Bouchee and Southside 1 picked up 25 points. Miles Smith was The Man as he rolled 229 on his way to a 635 series. Delmont Tucker also had a great night with a 212 game and 600 series. Derwin Smith tied for the second high game with a 212 while Reggie Saunders had a 569 series.

Fishbowl League

Carlos Estravit and Rebekah Darrell both garnered 200s. Estravit's 222 helped him build a 611 handicap series while Darrell's 210 went towards her handicap 700 series.

Lisa Saints (191), Cathee Tumbridge (178), Karen Simmons (175) and Donna Doyle (174) all had high games while Judy Aldred (643), Saints (625), Simmons (624), Tumbridge (598) and Easton (589) led the way with the high handicap series.

Malcolm Santucci (189), Richard Zuill (188), Ted Swiss (188), Robyn Darrell (182), Tony Vibal (178) and Rusty Solis (175) had the top games amongst the men.

Top series honours went to Darrell (671), Malcolm Santucci (628), Lucky Pitcher (619). Nelson Arruda (616), and Vibal (601).

Bowling League

Kelvin Burt and Patrice Tucker were both in good form on the opening night of league play. Burt rolled a 247 as the foundation for his 584 series while Tucker used her 211 to build the night's highest series with a 589.

Millicent Francis (208), Philip Francis (203), Loderick Holder (203) also had 200s.

Other high series were rolled by Lynn Gilbert (542), Marie Richardson (500), Anthony Smith (553) and Chris Maycock (540).

Scores: Fight Back 17, Troublemakers 3; Minimax Forwarders 17, True Mix 3; Mix Ups 14.5, Activators 5.5; Untouchables 14, Strikers 6; Strike Force 14, Movers N Shakers 6; Try Hards 13, Gang in Blue 7.

Commercial Bowling League

Zina Jones (198) barely missed out in a 200 while Christopher Smith had the top male game at 233.

Maxwell Hassell (212) and Maurice Lowe (208) also bowled 200s.

The high handicap series honours went to Ann-Marie Dove (640), Jones (614) and Terrlyn Jones (609) for the women and Hassell (653), Kevin Burgess (599) and Wendell Brangman (596).

Sweet Life had the high handicap game for a team with an 873 while DC Braves rolled a n 849 and king Pins an 842.
