Games this past weekend were postponed as softball mourned the loss of Hall of Fame umpire Michael Preece, 65. All games this week will start with a moment of silence for the long-serving umpire and groundsman.

Preece's funeral will be this Saturday at 2pm at Christ Church, Devonshire.

He passed away last way Friday at King Edward Memorial Hospital.

He was inducted into the International Softball Hall of Fame in June.

Men's Division

Sun Control 13, A.F. Smith 2

Two homers by David Campbell (4-5) helped Sun Control to the win in a contest that was much closer than the final score. Sun Control scored three in the seventh and five in the eighth to blow open a tight contest.

Andrew Burgess (3-5) and Matthew Hayward (1-5) also homered for the winners while team-mates Trevor Corday and Matthew Harper both had three hits.

Darren Longbottom (2-4) was the only Smith batter to get two hits.

Tuff Dogs 15, PCS Panthers 10

Leadoff man John Ray (3-5) helped the Dogs to victory as he knocked in four runs. Ray had a two-RBI double in the second and a two-RBI single in the seventh. John Towers (4-6) homered for the winners while Lovintz Tota (3-6) and Curtis McGuiness also had good cuts at the plate.

Garic Swainson (4-5) kept Panthers in the game with his two homers and six RBI. Preston Mallory (4-5) also got the job done from the leadoff spot.

B Division

Women's Division

P&M Electri-cuties 33, Comets 17

P&M needed just four innings to pile on 33 runs as they crushed the ball. Stephanie Rego (3-5, 5 RBI), Angie Bennett (3-4, 4 RBI), Diane Blaise (4-4), Sheila Legacy (3-4), Tina Robson (4-4), and Anti Williams (4-4) put on a hitting clinic for the Cuties.

The Comets took advantage of 10 walks. Catherine Vu (1-1), Tachae King (1-3), Gianna Mitchell (2-3) and Wendy Trott (3-4) all tripled for Comets.

Café Cairo 41, Eacy Girls 6

Cairo was like a blinding sandstorm sweeping across 41 runs in four innings in this game ended by the mercy rule. Cleanup batter Sarah Robinson (4-4) drove in seven runs while Joanie Harper (4-4) knocked home six. Team-mate Melissa Defontes was 6-6.

Tawana Lee and Delyght Thomas were both 2-2 for Eacy while Dianna Smith was 3-3.
