Snappers blank the mighty Marlins

It's a long season, but both Goldfish and Snappers will be happy with their 4-0 victories on the opening night of the Fishbowl League at Warwick Lanes.

Snappers blanked Fishbowl League powerhouse Marlins while Goldfish took all four games from Tuna.

Other scores saw Wahoo, Dolphins and Mackerel all start off well with 3-1 triumphs over Piranhas, Barracuda and Hinds respectively.

Cow Pollies and Hammerheads drew while Porgies and Flying Fish are scheduled for a makeup match.

Peggy Mello had the Women's Division I high scratch game (176) and high handicap game (213). She was the runner-up for high scratch series (460)) and had a fine 571 handicap series. Lisa Saints had the overall high scratch and handicap game for women with a 180 and 216 and also topped the high scratch and handicap series with a 465 and 573.

Yvonne Joseph used her 169 scratch game as the basis for a 464 scratch series. Joseph also tied for the Women's Division I high handicap series with a 572. Brenda Burrows also rolled 572 series.

Ann Mitchell had a 167 scratch game, a 206 handicap game and 570 handicap series.

The men's divisions were dominated by Peter Winsby (247 scratch game, 257 handicap game, 563 scratch series, 593 handicap series), Jackie Miller (224, 224, 608, 608) and Joe Benevides (225, 229, 567 and 599).

Lucky Pitcher and Clifford Powell both rolled a 181 to top the Division 2 men. Pitcher also had the high handicap series with a 582. Brian Botelho had the high handicap game with a 231.
