Princess berth changed from St George's to Dockyard

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 5: The last cruise call of the year has been moved for a second time and will now call at Dockyard.

The Pacific Princess was originally scheduled to call into Hamilton on December 17, but was moved to St George’s because the cruise terminal will be used as a polling station for the General Election.

But in a move that will be a blow to traders in the old town, the luxury liner and her 600 passengers will now call at Dockyard for the day.

The Bermuda Sun understands that the move from St George’s to Dockyard was prompted by the ship itself due to the availability of excursion tours in the West End.

The ship will now berth at King’s Wharf in Dockyard at 9am on December 17 after arriving from Funchal in Madeira.

And she will leave the island at 4pm bound for Fort Lauderdale.

Her departure will wrap up the cruise schedule for the year and is the last of the 162 calls in 2012.

Elsewhere this week it’s just the usual container ships bringing in Christmas trees and festive supplies.

The Oleander arrived on Monday and will be back again the same time next week.

The Somers Isles got into Hamilton yesterday and is scheduled to head back to Florida this morning. Finally the Bermuda Islander will arrive in Hamilton tomorrow and set sail again for the west coast of the US at 8am on Friday.
