Piranhas take bite out of Porgies

The Piranhas snapped up first place in the Fishbowl League with a 3-1 victory over Porgies. The team has a 3.5 advantage over Snappers, who lost 3-1 to Mackerel last Friday at Warwick Lanes.

The league's only whitewash saw Goldfish take four from Hinds.

Other 3-1 scores saw Dolphins defeat Orca; Wahoo beat Jellyfish; Barracuda down Marlins ; and Cow Pollies net Tuna.

Cathee Tumbridge rolled a 213 game to lead all women. Patrice Tucker, the league's best female bowler with a 177.87 average, barely missed out on a 200 with a 198 game. Multi-sport star Joanie Harper rolled a 186.

Brian Hollis was a star with a 257 game. It was the second highest game this season. David Mello had a 245 and Jackie Miller rolled a 222. Miller leads all men with a 205.02 average.

Corinne Durrant led all women with a 659 handicap series; she was followed by Harper (650) and Karen Simmons (616).

Mello had a 677 handicap series for Wahoo. The Dolphins Andre Trott had a big night with a 670 series. Hollis totalled 660 for the night.

Commercial League

BTC took over first place as they swept Sunset 4-0 and Do It Best Masters dropping all four to Braves.

Other games saw King Pins beat Strikers 3-1; Spinners sliced up Sweet Life 3-1; and Royal Gazette downed Double Trouble 3-1.

Sharon DeShields and Marie Ford both rolled 209s while Kristal Davis had a pinfall of 182. The top men bowlers were Wayne Raynor (215), Troy Darrell (207) and Chris Leverock (200). Geraldine Harris led all bowlers with a 615 handicap series, edging DeShields by just two pins. Zina Jones rolled a 609 series. Raynor used his 215 game as a foundation for his 615 series. Leverock (545) and Darrell (523) were the next two best men.

Barritt's League

Pembroke Juniors had a "bad week' by their standards as they only won 22 to 8 over Buy & Sell.

The only consolation they can take in their small margin of victory is that nearest rival PHC barely beat The Old & the New 17.5 to 12.5. Other scores saw Logic Rollers beat Southside One 21 to 9; Sparks edged Southside Two 15.5 to 14.5; and Stash T split with Young Bloods at 15 apiece.

Miles Smith had high game honours with a 236. Lamar Richardson(226), Antoine Jones (224) and Clem Lespere (224) also rolled well.
