Pebbles bowls like Bam Bam to lead Continental League

A fierce battle is shaping up in the Freisenbruch-Meyer Continental League between Cubs and Pinsplitters. Going into last week's action, Cubs had a narrow one game advantage, but suffered a 16 to 14 loss to Pinjammers and now trail by 10 games.

Pebbles Tucker bowled more like Bam Bam as she had high women's game of 220 and overall high series of 597. Shirley Tuzo rolled a 213 and 544 while Rochelle Harvey converted her 211 into a 542.

Sheldon Thompson led the man with a 247 game. Tim Doyle was able to use his 220 as the foundation for his 590. Stephen Paul (208) and Bruce Benevides 9580) also rolled well.

Scores: The Invaders 16, Nifty Rollers, 14; Pinsplitters 25, Odd Balls 5; Quickie Lickie Laundry 20.5, Bermuda Pest Control 9.5; Pinjammers 16, Cubs 14; New Hope 16.5, Spicenix 13.5.

Commercial League

BTC doesn't need to look for Trouble, because Trouble found them. The two clubs are now tied atop the standings after Double Trouble beat DC Braves 3-1 and BTC lost 1-3 to Strikers.

Malcolm Woodley had the league's lone 200 with a 207. Jache Adams (196) and Aesop Smith (195) were just a few pins away.

The top women were Malikah Symonds (176), Marilyn Simmons (176) and Veneika Steede (174). Symonds had the high handicap series with a 598 as she edged Yvette Smith by one pin and Steede by three.

Kalvin Simmons was the high handicap series man with a 630. While Adams had a 616 and Alvin Outerbridge had a 612.

Scores: Spinners 4, Sweet Life 0; Double Trouble 3, DC Braves 1; Strikers 3, BTC 1; Sunset 3, Royal Gazette 1; King Pins 2, Do It Best 2.

Barritt's League

Haascobe pulled off an upset when they downed leaders Pembroke Jrs 18.5 to 11.5. The victory keeps them in the hunt for a terrific three-way fight for second with Pin Raiders and PH Club.

LeVinc Samuels was the man as he rolled a 264 game on his way to a 642 series. Damien Matthews was the runner-up in both categories with a 232 and 600. Anthony Smith (222) and Lamar Richardson (599) also bowled well.

Scores: The Old & The New 15, PH Club 15; Pin Raiders 17, Young Bloods 13; Haascobe 18.5, Pembroke Jrs 11.5; Team Bouchee 10, Sparks 20.

Fishbowl League

Tough conditions at Warwick Lanes saw only a few 200s rolled. Donna Doyle was the only woman who managed the feat as she bowled a 202.

The top man was Stephen Paul with a 213. That edged out games by Jerry Koehler (211), Ted Swiss (209), Quinton Mallory (208), Carlos Durrant (204).

Cathee Tumbridge (180) and Judy Aldred (176) were the next best women. Aldred had the high handicap series with a 621 followed by Doyle (618), Cindy Laurin (607) and Barbara Smith (607)

Durrant was the top man with a 677 followed by Koehler's 664 and Mallory's 625.

Mixed Majors

Always one of the island's most competitive bowling leagues, Mixed Majors still has five teams in the hunt for the league title.

Things were not made any clearer as Fight Back moved into a tie for first place while Gang in Blue leapfrogged over Troublemakers in the standings thanks to beating them 18 to 2.
