New scoreboard to honour Preece

Softball's long-awaited new scoreboard is in the process of being installed and should be up and running within a couple of weeks.

Norbert Simons, director for the Department of Youth and Sports, said they have been in possession of the new scoreboard for quite a while.

He said the Michael E. Preece Stadium is situated in a swamp-like environment.

"In order for the poles to hold the weight of the scoreboard, they would have had to have gone down 20 or 30 feet."

He said the engineers opted to put down a concrete base behind the existing scoreboard and the poles have been cemented in.

"We're trying to upgrade the park," Simons said. "We'll have a little ceremony and have the family over after we get the scoreboard up."

In softball playoff action last week, P & M Electricutes just slipped past Lady Giants 14 to 13 to even their series 1-1. The third game of the women's final is scheduled for tonight at 6pm.

In the A Division, Docksiders took game two from P & M Electric 14 to 11 to even the best of five at one game apiece.

Sun Control forfeited their Men's Division game to Tuff Dogs and are now down two games.

JLT Park lead the C Division series also 2-0, after they managed a one-run victory 19 to 18.

Argus leveled the B Division playoffs at one with a 19 to 17 triumph over Caceis.[[In-content Ad]]
