Medical emergency causes Epic to stop in Bermuda

WEDNESDAY, APR. 18: It’s a packed schedule on the seas this week with car carriers, motor yachts and gravel ships all coming into Bermuda.

At the weekend we had a heavy-lift vessel, a cruise liner, and the Oleander arrive on island.

The Panagia came into Hamilton on Saturday to deliver a new crane for Stevedoring Services.

While the Explorer of the Seas came alongside in Dockyard for the day before heading back home to Cape Liberty on Saturday evening.

On Monday evening the Norwegian Epic came into Bermuda after a female passenger suffered a suspected stroke.

The ship was on her way from Miami to the Azores when she had to change her course.

Yesterday the gravel carrier UBC Mariel rumbled into the East End to deliver construction material.

The ship, which originated in Canada, arrived slightly behind schedule due to the weather.

But she’ll be with us until tomorrow when she heads out for the Bahamas.

The Somers Isles leaves today bound for Florida and will be replaced in Hamilton by the Bermuda Islander tomorrow morning.

And the car carrier Southern Highway is expected to sail into Hamilton Harbour on Friday morning to deliver the latest batch of 60 cars that were made in Japan.

St George’s has been playing host to a couple of motor yachts for the past few days.

Satori arrived in Bermuda on April 4 and left on Sunday.

While Baraka came in to refuel on Monday and left later the same day.

The luxury yacht Air is expected to arrive in Dockyard tomorrow, again for a re-fueling stop.

Finally the Enchantment of the Seas headed back to Baltimore yesterday, but she will be back in the West End on Saturday for her second visit of the year.

The liner will be in Dockyard for just over a day before leaving Bermuda on Sunday afternoon bound for Boston.
