Medallist wants to go pro
Fresh off a silver medal winning performance at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic in Ohio, the 22-year-old Government statistician is now chomping at the bit to aspire to the professional ranks. He said: "Hopefully I can get a few pro bouts and do some mixed martial arts and grappling and hopefully one day make it to the Ultimate Fighting Championships." Heading into the Classic, Bowen said winning a medal was "always on the agenda. Any competition I go in I always expect to come first. I train to win and that's always my goal in any competition I compete in." Bowen took finishing as bridesmaid with a grain of salt and hopes to go one better and win the gold medal next year.
He said: "It was some disappointment .... but I gave it my best and whenever I give it my best I can't be disappointed with my results.
"I done my best and hopefully I can build on that for next year. I definitely want to start next year off with a gold medal at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic." Wing Lam Kung Fu is a martial arts form which places emphasis on striking your opponent, whether kicking or punching, from a distance. Bowen is a Level One, the equivalent of a Karate black belt. In Ohio the aspiring athlete came up against some of the best in the U.S. He said: "It was a fairly high level of competition and a lot of good brawlers. They are good brawlers and good strikers who can fight."[[In-content Ad]]
