Martial artists place in Virginia
SUNDAY, JANUARY 15: Three residents had top three finishes at a martial arts World Cup event in Virginia.
Competing for the Bermuda Karate Organization at John Chung's World Cup Finals Martial Arts Championship In Reston, Virginia on January 13 and 14, were BKO president Skipper Ingham, 81, of Bermuda Karate Institute, masters competitor Andrea McKey of Bermuda Shotokan and junior Kent Bean of Kai Yun Shaolin Academy.
Ingham placed second in men's traditional forms (40+), losing by one/tenth point to the first place finisher.
McKey placed third in weapons and second in forms (women 40+).
Bean won his weapons division and placed second in the open hand forms (soft style 14-17); for the open hand , he tied with the winner, but dropped to second on a tie breaking procedure.
Also representing Bermuda were BKO Secretary Kristina Ingham and Vice President Gladwin Phillips, who assisted as judges.
