WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14: The last cruise ship of 2011 left Hamilton yesterday bound for Florida.
The Pacific Princess, of TV Love Boat fame, is one of the smaller cruise ships and is therefore able to make it through Two Rock Passage into the capital.
She holds 694 passengers and 373 crew — a relatively small number compared to the cruise ships that call on Dockyard.
The Princess Cruises ship originated in Funchal, Madeira before heading out across the Atlantic for Bermuda.
It is her first and only trip to the island of 2011.
She left Hamilton yesterday afternoon on her way to Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
Apart from the Veendam just six other cruise ships have sailed into Hamilton this year.
They include Europe, Regatta, Silver Whisper, the Seven Seas Navigator, the Seven Seas Mariner and Amadea.
The vast majority of cruise liners have come alongside at Dockyard.
Fuelling up
The weekend saw the arrival of the fuel tanker Nord Princess.
She called in to the Oil Docks of St George’s on Saturday morning and left on Sunday.
Elsewhere this week it’s just the three regular container ships calling in.
The Somers Isles gets in today and is followed by the Bermuda Islander tomorrow. The Oleander arrives on Sunday morning.
However eagle-eyed ship spotters may have seen the shape of the 131ft motor yacht Bystander coming along South Shore on Monday morning.
She dropped anchor later the same day at Powder Hole, south of St George’s Harbour.
