Lights out for Preece Stadium
BASA special general meeting Thursday
Bermuda Waters secured the first victory of the year with a 22 to 16 triumph over BNY Juggernauts. That was followed by Precision Cabling Panthers defaulting to P & M Electric before Docksiders Tuff Dogs downed Caceis 25 to 13.
Since then, rainy weather either washed the games or made the field at Michael Preece Softball Stadium too wet to play on.
Last Thursday's severe winds added another blow when it partially downed a light pole which is still waiting to be repaired.
No games are likely to be played tonight as more rain is forecast and with tomorrow night's Bermuda Amateur Softball special general meeting called, Thursday's contests are postponed.
If everything goes well, games will resume on Friday night with BEST Shipping taking on D & J Construction.
Youth and Sports director Cal Simons said he was hopeful that the light pole will be fixed by then.
Tonight the Men's league draft is scheduled to take place starting at 6pm at Flanagan's Outback Sports Bar.
The draft is expected to last 14 rounds.
The CSL moved to a draft format for the men's league as a way to help bring competitive balance rather than have one or two teams dominate year after year.
The BASA special general meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 5:30pm in the boardroom of Cultural Affairs.
Every team in the Summer Softball League and Commercial Softball League has a vote in this meeting.
If you have a team in both leagues, you have two votes, but an individual person can only represent one team. Therefore in order to vote for both teams, two people would need to be present.
