King Pins take over the Commercial League top spot

BTC lost the lead in the Commercial Bowling League after a 2-2 tie with Sunset on Monday night at Warwick Lanes.

King Pins took over the top spot with a 4-0 whitewash of Spinners.

Terrieka Simmons led all bowlers with a 193 game, followed by Brenda Jean Smith’s 191.

Shay Ford had the third high score with a 172.

The top man was Jamie Ford with a 190, who edged John Adams by one pin. O’Neil Lindsay was a further two pins behind Adams.

It was a tight race for high handicap series honours but Simmons emerged on top of the pack with a 616.

Jamie Ford was high man with a 615 and Lindsay’s 614 was two better than Junior Watts.

The second high woman was Julie Thomas with a 595 and Sharon Gibson rounded out the honours list with a 594.

FM-Continental Bowling League

Cubs held on to first place despite a ­spirited challenge by Pinsplitters, who picked up 25 points in a victory over Spicenix.

Cubs downed Nifty Rollers 26.5 to 3.5 to extend their lead to 2.5 games.

Patrice Tucker continued her great early season form and just missed a 300 game when she rolled a 280. Tucker also had a 672 scratch series.

Winnette Wellington (204), Joan Burgess (200) and Donna Carmichael (200) also hit the 200 mark.

Anthony Smith’s 223 was good enough for top score among the men, while Dayvon Tucker (217) and Robert Wilson (214) also made the honours list.

Smith’s 613 was the top series for a man with Tucker four pins behind him and Clem Lespere was third with a 586.
