WEDNESDAY,  MAR. 28: A ship carrying liquid latex dropped anchor off Bermuda yesterday for running repairs.

The Harbel Cutlass diverted to the island after developing problems with her giro compass.

A technician was flown into Bermuda from Tampa in Florida on Monday and taken out to the waiting ship in Murray’s Anchorage by the pilot boat at 7am yesterday.

He was on board the ship for 12 hours mending the technical fault, before he was ferried back into St George’s.

The Harbel Cutlass was expected to carry on with her voyage from Liberia to the US this morning.

Cargoes

Meanwhile a cement ship and a car carrier are also due to arrive in Bermuda today.

The giant Alioth Leader came into Hamilton this morning to drop off 42 vehicles that have come all the way from Japan.

And the Diego returned to Dockyard for the second time in two weeks to bring in cement powder.

She originates in the Dominican Republic and is scheduled to leave Bermuda on Friday.

The LPG carrier Gas Crystal will arrive at the Oil Docks in St George’s tomorrow morning.

She will only be in the East End for a matter of hours before she heads off to Nassau in the Bahamas the same day.

Containers

Finally all three container ships are in this week.

The Somers Isles leaves Bermuda this morning and will be replaced by the Bermuda Islander tomorrow.

The Oleander is already back on her Sunday arrival schedule owing to bad weather out at sea last week, and she’s back in again this Sunday at 4pm.
