Haascobe moves into first after big victory


Haascobe took advantage of cellar dwellers The Old & The New to move into first place in the Barritt's. Haascobe's 26.5 to 3.5 victory moved them past Sparks and into first place.

Sparks had a good week in downing Young Bloods 21 to 9. Title favourites Pembroke Juniors and PH Club both won 23 to 9 to hold down third and fourth places respectively.

Vernon Daniels 266 was the high game and a great foundation for his 668 series. Damien Matthews (254, 613) and LeVinc Samuels (245, 633) were the other two best bowlers.

F-M Continental League

It's just one week, but the Invaders can enjoy the view at the top of the table after a 27.5 to 2.5 triumph over the Odd Balls. New Hope also had a good start after a 26 to 4 victory over Nifty Rollers.

Patrice Tucker is in early season good form after she rolled her 243 on her way to her 609 series. Shirley Tuzo also had a good opening night after using her 210 as part of her 563 series. Leann Bean, 224 game, and Peaches Perinchief, 527 series, also made the honours' list.

Micheal Lambe had the high series with a 683 thanks in part to his 237 game. Troy Richardson had the high game with a 257, which helped translate into a 643 series. William Steede did well with his 243 game and 631 series.

East End Winter league

A competitive opening weekend of play at Southside Family Bowl as three teams are tied for the league lead. Pin Snipers doused Fireballs 7-2 as Ten Pins did the same to See-Breeze Strikers. The other team with a claim to the share of the lead is Strike Squad who beat TLC.

It wasn't an easy night for 200s with only three men able to make that mark. Elliot Douglas was the top man with a 229 while John Simons (215) and Gordon Brown (200) also achieving the lauded mark. Greame Furbert had the high series with a 548, just ahead of Douglas and his 543. Derwin Smith was third with a 527.

Carolyn Welch was Miss Consistency as she achieved her high series of 485 without making the high game list. Rita Smith had the high game with a 180, followed by Laurie Simons (178) and Shelita White (166). White (473) and Simons (469) also made the high series list.

Fish Bowl League

Two weeks in and Cow Pollies and Dolphins are still in search of their first wins. Barracuda is the only undefeated team after white-washing Goldfish 4-0. Marlins blanked Porgies to remain a game off the lead.

Patrice Tucker led all bowlers with a 252 game. Cathee Tumbridge joined her as the only other woman to roll a 200 when she scored 202.

Some of the men rolling 200s included: Richard Zuill (239), Tony Vibal (237) Peter Winsby (228), Stephen Paul (222), Raymond Russell (210) and Mansfield Smith (209).

High handicap series honours was won by Tucker with her 695. Other women topping 600 included Tumbridge (632), Rebekah Darrell (615), Marj Correia (609) and Lynn Cann (605).

Vibal's 705 was the high handicap series amongst the men. Paul (682), Russell (682), Winsby (679), Allen (632) and Malcolm Santucci (628) also made the honours' list.
