The Rainbow Warriors of Waiheke Island tells the story of the fishing trawler Rainbow Warrior, bought by environmental group Greenpeace.
It charts the vessel’s history from its initial mission to save whales to its eventual sinking in 1985 at the hands of the French Secret Service.
The ship led the campaign against nuclear testing and whaling and became an international symbol for the environmental movement.
The film features archive footage of protests and of Greenpeace’s evacuation of an entire island ravaged by the effects of nuclear testing. It also examines the changing nature of activism and asks the questions such as ‘have celebrity endorsements replaced direct action?’
Oscar-winning actor Kevin Kline and Sandrine Bonnaire star in Queen To Play — a feel-good drama/comedy about newfound passions and midlife triumphs, set on the beautiful island of Corsica.

Both films are rated PG.
