CultureFest is to be rescheduled again
TUESDAY, JULY 17: CultureFest is to be rescheduled for a second time following a request by Wedco for organizers to consider another date.
The two-day event at Royal Naval Dockyard was originally supposed to take place on June 17 and 18 but due to bad weather it was postponed and was due to take place this coming weekend.
However, at the request of Wedco, a new date is now being sought.
Organizers Spanish Town Entertainment said: “In keeping with the theme of CultureFest, our team has agreed to oblige the requested change and in the interest of working together have now collectively set our sights on the selection of a new date this fall.
“Special thanks to all the sponsors, vendors and volunteers who have already invested handsomely in the CultureFest programme. In spite of this minor adjustment, there is a growing group of individuals and organizations involved with the development of this programme who all remain fully committed to ensuring that CultureFest “Unity in the Community” becomes the memorable and unifying experience that our community so desperately needs.”
CultureFest is due to include entertainment from the likes of the Portuguese Folklore Group, Phillipines dance group, dance from the native community and Gombey and limbo dancing as well as African dance and music from Chewstick. There will be an area for children with slides, rides and games as well as an area for skateboarding, BMX and archery and even scuba demonstrations. Accompanying the activities will be food vendors selling food from around the world.
