The Chewstick Foundation is gearing up to send six lucky artists on a three-date Toronto Tour and is hosting a concert to help raise funds for the trip.

The concert will also offer a taster of what is to come in Toronto from April 20 to 24 as some of the selected artists will be performing on the night along with an invited audience of Chewstick stalwarts. The concert features Joy T. Barnum, Live Wire, KASE, Kombat and Imari and takes place on Saturday, April 9 at 8pm at Ruth Seaton James. There will be an after party at the newly renovated Chewstick Neo-Griot Lounge & Café. Tickets costs $30 or $100 for patrons, and are available from the Chewstick office from 9am to 6pm or at Rock Island Coffee.

Back in February, the charity held auditions for artists to perform on the Toronto tour and whittled it down to six artists.

Here is the full Toronto line up:

Dewhurst: Hiphop artist Dewhurst’s first live performance was during his audition but the judges said his performance “blew everyone away”.

Imari: Tha Underground Music Awards favourite female singer Imari is giving Bermuda’s male rappers a run for their money according to organizers.

Kombat: This upcoming Bermuda rapper was recently the featured artists for one of Chewstick’s Neo Griot sessions that promote local artists to an overseas audience.

Ramon Clarke: This singer bridges R&B, reggae and roots with a touch of jazz. He has opened for such artists as Luciano, Beenie Man and UB40.

Rajiv Mallory: A newcomer to the R&B scene is described by organizers as having a voice that will “make girls weak in the knees.”

Sharia Bean: She has been writing poetry since she was 15-years-old and now she is 23 she is looking to take her words to an overseas audience.
