But in 2007 the event organizers, led by Ed Jordan, Nancy Wainwright, Graham Smith and Jayne Jones, have developed several different routes, permitting greater numbers to participate and complete different distances. The event will also benefit the Bermuda Red Cross as well as the Bermuda Bicycle Association and is open to all members of the community.
Starting from the southern entrance of the Botanical Gardens, cyclists will have the choice of five different routes of varying distances, ranging from a 65.5 mile loop around the perimeter of the Island to a 5 mile round trip to Spanish Point.
Smaller children will also have the opportunity to participate on a course within the Botanical Gardens property.
Participants are encouraged to supplement their entry fee of $50 with pledges from friends, family, and colleagues to assist in raising funds for both charities. All participants will receive a medal of completion for their efforts and there will be a central refreshment and support table at the Botanical Gardens during the event.
Individuals wishing more information on the event can visit the website www.bermudabicycle.org/Century.htm or contact the BBA at [email protected]. Entry forms are available at Winners Edge, Sportseller and Bicycle Works.[[In-content Ad]]
