MONDAY, DEC. 31: The first car carrier of the year will rumble into Hamilton this week to deliver the latest batch of new Japanese vehicles.
The Libra Leader is currently on her way to Bermuda from Freeport in the Bahamas.
The Panama-flagged vessel is scheduled to arrive in Hamilton on Thursday morning to deliver the new cars.
She will be on her way to her next port in the Caribbean by the time the sun sets.
Meanwhile the news that longshoremen in the US have called off their proposed strike was a welcome New Year's present for Bermuda Container Line and its ship the Oleander.
A strike could have crippled the service out of New Jersey to Bermuda.
But fortunately for everyone here the two sides now look like reaching an agreement over container royalties and the Oleander will be back in Bermuda next Monday.
