An injured sailor was brought into Bermuda for treatment this week.
The man received serious burns to his hands after an accident on board the container ship Washington Express.
He was picked up by the pilot boat at Five Fathom Hole off St David’s at 2pm on Monday.
The sailor was brought into Ordnance Island where a waiting ambulance took him to hospital.
The huge container ship continued on its way from Germany to Charleston, South Carolina in the US.
Elsewhere this week there’s five cruise ships on island in the next five days.
The Norwegian Gem and the Celebrity Summit are scheduled to come in Wednesday morning to King’s Wharf in Dockyard. Both ships leave Bermuda on Friday.
The Veendam arrived in Hamilton on Tuesday and will leave on Friday.
Then on Saturday the Caribbean Princess and Explorer of the Seas come into the West End.
The two cruise ships leave later the same afternoon.
They will be replaced on the Sunday by the Norwegian Dawn from Boston. She will be in Bermuda until Tuesday at King’s Wharf in Dockyard.
Finally the Bermuda Islander makes up the shipping schedule for this week. She is due to arrive into Hamilton tomorrow morning.
