Braves unlucky in being swept by Double Trouble

Double Trouble and BTC took advantage of an average week from King Pins to force a three-way tie for first in the Commercial League.

Braves were really unlucky to be white-washed by Double Trouble. Braves had the third highest handicap series with 2,279 pins. Unfortunately for them Double Trouble knocked down 2,360.

BTC had the high handicap series of 2,387 pins in their 3-1 triumph over Sweet Life.

Other scores saw Spinners take four from Do It Best Masters, Sunset defeat Strikers 3-1 and King Pins draw with the Royal Gazette.

Michael Honore rolled a 235 scratch game. Also topping 200 was Anthony Smith with a 231. Marie Ford led the women with a 192 game and a 619 handicap series.

Standings: 1. BTC 11-5; 2. King Pins 11-5; 3. Double Trouble 11-5; 4. Braves 9-7; 5. Strikers 9-7; 6. Spinners 8-8; 7. Sweet Life 6-10; 8. Do It Best Masters 6-10; 9. Royal Gazette 5-11; 10. Sunset 4-12.

Fishbowl League

Dolphins accomplished what no other team has yet been able to do this season - take a point off of league leading Goldfish.

Unfortunately for Dolphins, a point was all they got as they went down to defeat. The 3-1 victory for Goldfish moves to 15-1 on the year.

Hammerheads blanked Hinds 4-0 and Tuna took four from Cow Pollies.

Marlins continue to struggle as they lost 3.5 to 0.5 to Porgies.

Other scores saw Barracuda take three from Piranhas; Wahoo reel in Flying Fish 3-1 and Mackerel do the same to Snappers.

Margie Lynch rolled a 210 scratch game for her high of the season.

She also had the handicap high series with a 644. Joanie Harper rolled a 192 and had a 618 handicap series.

Other women over 600 were Juliette Smith (610) and Corinne Durrant (602).

Leading the men was David Mello with a 242. Also over 200 was Jackie Miller (220), Wayne Robinson (219) and Clem Lespere (206).

High handicap series honours were won by Lespere with a 674 while Robinson had a 658, closely followed by Tim Doyle (654), and David Mello (643).

Barritt's League

PHC nearly ran the gamut against The Old & The New, taking 29 of 30 points from the bottom club.

Even with that convincing win, PHC could only push its lead over Pembroke Jrs by one point as the second place team beat Southside One 28 to 2.

Other scores saw Buy & Sell down Stash T 22 to 8, Sparks beat Southside 2 18 to 12 and Logic Rollers edged Young Bloods 16 to 14.

Casey Burgess had the high game with a 246 while Jackie Miller (231) and Graeme Furbert (225) also rolled well.

Wednesday Night

Mixed League

Lucky Strike downed Free Spirits 3-1, but lost a half point on its lead when Time Will Tell took 3.5 points off of Newer Breed. Other scores saw We've Decided and Ink spots run out 3-1 winners over Strike Force and Dark & Lovely respectively.

Earlston Chapman rolled a 272 handicap game while Jaime Ramsay had a 252. Ramsay had the high handicap series with a 679, besting Clifford Maxwell by 18 pins.

The top female bowler was Marilyn Simmons who used her 250 game as the foundation for her 656 series.

Kennelyn Smith had 228 game, nipping Ronshea Christopher by one.
