Bike rodeo a hit
The youngsters, aged between seven and 11, rode through a mock city - negotiating streets, crosswalks and roundabouts within the safety of the school playground.
Students also learned the elements of bicycle maintenance.
Teacher Garth Thomson said the 'rodeo' was a highly anticipated annual event at the school.
"We emphasize wearing a properly fitting helmet, using hand signals and understanding the rules of the road.
"Kids love that it is hands on and it reinforces the safety element of cycling that is often overlooked.
"I encourage kids that cycling is a lifelong activity and an excellent way to stay fit and enjoy time with friends."
P3 student Mical Hardtman said: "I liked the roundabout and riding my bike at school" Daishon Dillworth (P4) added: "I liked riding on the twisty road and riding with my friends."
Mr. Thomson thanked local retailers Bicycle Works, Cycle Cellar, and the Winner's Edge for providing incentives for participants.[[In-content Ad]]
