Bermuda to take on Caribbean's best
Roughly 140 youngsters from Barbados, Cayman, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States will compete in the event between July 11 and 19.
Each country has seven players on each boys and girls team, including two Under 19s one Under 17, one Under 15, one Under 13, and two reserves.
There will also be individual competitions in various age groups with each country allowed to register further players for those tournaments.
Bermuda has a good record in the Junior CASA Squash championships, which it has been competinig in since 1981, winning the boys' competition in 1998 and 2006 and the overall competition in 2006.
Last year, in the British Virgin Islands, Bermuda's juniors finished second in the Girls Team competition - their best ever performance - and third in Boys Team competition.
Bermudian youngsters also have a good record in the individual competitions claiming a total of 13 titles. Past winners have included Nick Kyme, James Stout, Tommy Sherratt, Michael Shrubb, Noah Browne and Robbie Maycock.
Ross Triffitt, director of squash, said in a press release: "We're delighted to have Bank of Bermuda Foundation as title sponsors for this prestigious tournament. The Foundation's strong support of Junior Squash in Bermuda has been a terrific boost to our junior squash programme, which continues to grow from strength to strength. It is this kind of exposure to exciting international competition that helps to raise our standards and keeps our youngsters enthusiastic about squash."[[In-content Ad]]
