BDA Express offers speed with that personal touch

BDA Express — part of Bermuda Worldwide Shipping — is a new company making a big name for themselves.

Islanders can receive goods from the US within two days at reasonable cost.

Roger Moniz, president, said:  “Even though Bermuda Worldwide Shipping (BWS) facilitates the company’s ocean and air freight, and relocations into and out of Bermuda, more of the general public can benefit from BDA Express.

“This division of BWS is the Express service for inbound goods sent from Bermuda Worldwide’s New Jersey warehouse.

“If you’re looking to order items online, or if you’re away shopping and you want goods relatively quickly, you can send them to our facility in New Jersey, and they will arrive here for collection or delivery within two business days.

“Our rates are… equal to the lowest on the island, but our overall services for both the Worldwide and the Express are second to none.”

Multiple items are forwarded along with invoices to the New Jersey receiver and can be consolidated as one shipment, or sent as part of, or all, Express.

This choice can be less costly than having each package shipped individually. And customers can further control their budget, according to Steven Sousa, general manager.

“Even though you’ve ordered (your goods) to come Express, you can change it at anytime. A lot of people… don’t realize the combined services that we offer,” Mr Sousa said.

“The New Jersey facility gives us a warehouse ‘receiving receipt’ on a daily basis. In an effort to give better quality service, we look at the list and calculate pricing options for our customers.”

The customer can be quoted the costs of ocean freight, air freight and Express and can then decide whether to change their choice of transport.

Mr Sousa noted the company’s transparency and fairness.

“Even in these hard economical times where charges continue to increase, we still haven’t increased our rates since we started… I have even had to often turn business away in an effort to be honest with our customers.”

He noted the example of additional suitcases. Will you pay the airline costs for excess baggage, or will you send the extras by freight?

The best and least expensive option is excess baggage in many cases, according to Mr Sousa — unless your itinerary includes multiple flights.

“The customer appreciates the honesty and the transparency every time… We exercise this type of care and honesty throughout our whole company profile of services.”

BDA Express packages that have been pre-paid by credit or debit card can be collected from the company’s Reid Street address, or from the Sound Stage in the Washington Mall. COD arrivals must be picked up from the Reid Street office.

While BDA Express leaves the US from a single facility, Bermuda Worldwide Shipping’s outbound goods are shipped to and from two ports in New Jersey and one in Florida.

BWS also ships to and from Toronto and Hayes, Middlesex, an area just outside London.

“Costs will vary according to destination and size or weight of shipment.”

Courier service is also available and may not always be more expensive than other options, according to Mr Moniz.

“It is the most reliable… in the sense that it’s time efficient… You can track it and we can predict the delivery of it,” he said.

“If you send a package out today, going to New York, for example, they could have it by 10am tomorrow morning.”

Bermuda Worldwide Shipping/BDA Express proceeds by a ‘listen, react, deliver’ strategy.

“We have to listen to the customer’s needs, their requirements, or what they are looking to have done.

“We react by providing the best possible price and services, and then we deliver by giving them the services they expect and appreciate.”

BWS accommodates its customers with as much or as little service required. It offers custom or no packing, insurance on damages and/or loss-only.
