WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30: St George’s is keeping up its growing reputation as a cultural hub by hosting an Art in the Park event on a regular basis.
Organized jointly by artist Tricia Walters and the Corporation of St George’s, the event takes place this Sunday in Somers Garden while future events will happen once every four months.
From 10am to 4pm there will be arts and crafts and other hand made items for sale just in time for Christmas.
It will feature original artwork by Christopher Grimes, Alexandra Mosher, Milton Hill, Calix Smith, Vanese Gordon, Jennifer Wills, Ami Zanders and Heidi Cowan to name a few.
The original Art in the Park took place in August when hundreds of people turned up to support local artists. According to Waters twice as many artists have signed up to participate in the upcoming event.
Walters said: “Many people are getting back into arts and crafts as a way to supplement their income. I guess you could say it’s a sign of the times. For the Art in the Park we have a number of new artists who are coming out and participating for the first time, showcasing their handmade items. We’re also planning a ART in the YARD event for Hamilton in the New Year.”
In a separate event, artists will be selling their work at discounted prices at the Bermuda Society of Arts on December 10. Artists for this event include Michele Smith, Chris Grimes, Heidi Cowan, Vanese Gordon, Ami Zanders, Donna Smith, Nahed Eid and Andrea Linke and Tricia Walters.
