American Airlines Tournament


Sixty-one bowlers competed in the latest round of the American Airlines tournament. Competition is heating up as Philip Frances topped both the handicap and scratch prize lists bowling a 752 handicap and 638 scratch. Vernell Harvey pulled out the stops and finished the night in second place bowling a 731 as Lillian Wilson placed third with a 708. Marilyn Saunders was close on her heels ending the night with a 707, just one pin less.

Philip Frances received credit for the highest game in game number three with a 228 while Lamar Richardson bowled a 207 highest game in game number two and Gladwin Harvey claimed the credit in the first game with a 233.

To qualify for the airline tickets at the end of the tournament bowlers must bowl six of the nine weeks of the Tournament and place in the top 15 each week. There is also a prize for the non-qualifiers who will bowl a separate final on the same night as the qualifiers.
