WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28: The German cruise ship AIDAluna makes her inaugural trip to Bermuda this week.
The Sphinx class vessel, with her distinctive red lips and eyes painted onĀ the hull, arrives in Dockyard tomorrow morning.
The AIDAluna was built in Germany in 2009 and will bring 2,100 passengers to the island.
She boasts a three-floor Theatrium complex and an onboard 4-D cinema.
The cruise ship will dock in the west end for nine hours on her return to New York from the Bahamas.
Transfer
She will make another two trips to Bermuda next month.
The Norwegian Gem also arrives in Dockyard this morning.
On Friday the Carnival Miracle docks in the west end, on her fourth trip this year to Bermuda from New York. She leaves on Sunday, as the Norwegian Dawn arrives.
Tomorrow the container ship Bermuda Islander arrives in Hamilton, followed by the Oleander on Sunday afternoon.
The Somers Isles was a day behind schedule when she arrived in Bermuda last Saturday, due to technical difficulties.
Last weekend also saw the Greek tanker Achilleas stop briefly in Bermuda for a crew transfer.
The tanker had already taken her cargo of crude oil from Nigeria to Philadelphia and was on the return journey when she stopped at Five Fathom Hole so one of her two captains could be brought ashore, at 3pm.
The skipper was to catch the British Airways flight to Gatwick that evening on his way home to Greece.
