A story of a whale and a tale of friendship feature in Weekend Film Series

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16: A documentary about a whale who found friends in human beings and a romantic French comedy feature as part of the Bermuda Docs Weekend Film Series this Sunday.

Set on the rugged coast of Vancouver Island, The Whale is about an orca that lost its pod and tries to find a surrogate family among the people who live along Nootka Sound.

People become torn as to whether their love for the young whale might be doing it more harm than good.

Rated G, it is an update from the award-winning film Saving Luna, re-edited and with new footage and narration.

My Afternoons With Margueritte stars Gerard Depardieu and Gisele Casadesus.

Adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name, it tells the story of semi-literate Germain (Depardieu) and literate lover Margueritte (Casadesus) who strike up an unlikely friendship. It transforms their lives starting them on a new journey — to literacy and respect for Germain and to the deepest friendship for Margueritte. The film is in French with English subtitles and recently won the Audience Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival.
