Bermuda Candle Company is burning brightly

A Bermudian couple has launched a candle company just in time for the holiday season,

Lindsey and Shannon Philpott started selling Bermuda Candle Company products last month. They have a special Christmas collection that is perfect for the holidays.

Their special candles are unique because they feature two wicks and are hand poured by the couple here in Bermuda. The candles are made with soy, which they say makes for a cleaner, longer lasting burn.

Mrs Philpott said she is the creative one while her husband has an “entrepreneurial spirit”.

“I was more hesitant to do it but he said we can really do this. We started in our kitchen messing around with different combinations of wax until we came up with something we liked.

“We tried various fragrances from different companies. We’ve tried different wicks.

“It’s quite the science.”

Mrs Philpott said their candles first went on sale at the Harbourside Market at BUEI last month and the response from customers was great.

The couple also has a pop –up shop in the Washington Mall where they sell on weekends.

“It’s been really good. The first market we did, we were so pleased because we had what we hoped to make and we surpassed that.

“The response was great especially with our Christmas Tree scent that we worked hard to make.”

Mr Philpott said the Christmas collection also includes spiced cranberry, Christmas cookie and candy cane. The regular collection includes dark and stormy, rum swizzle, Pina Colada, cucumber mint and red currant.
