A local cycling team that aims to improve the diversity of cycling on the island and represent Bermuda on a national scale has welcomed insurance company Hiscox as its kit sponsor.
The team approached Hiscox due to its “progressive image and focus on quality”.
Over the next year the team aims to build a strong foundation in B class racing, have its female team compete in the Island Games and its junior team “off to a good start”.
Lorraine Silvia, Hiscox cycling team manager, said: “We wanted a partnership that brought together a diverse group in sport. We love our Hiscox gear and are proud to wear the Hiscox name out there.
“We want to reach out to the community by supporting adults and children who are interested in fitness and healthy pursuits, which competitive sport can play a major role in. Many children whose parents are in this lifestyle have that influence already but we want to support those who may not necessarily have that.
“Our plans are to have a fun week camp in partnership with Fit4Life for children to feel comfortable and enjoy racing in the three triathlon events.”
Hiscox marketing and events coordinator Selange Gitschner said: “Cycling is a large and diverse community in Bermuda. This team is a positive group of people who are reaching out to Bermuda’s youth.
“It promotes healthy living and healthy competition in our community, what better way to market Hiscox?”
The team is still slowly recruiting for “committed athletes who will be able to contribute to the focus on “team spirit”.
