The Men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity incorporated and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity incorporated are hosting the third Annual Bascome/Lowe Charity Football Classic.
The aim of the tournament is to bring these two organizations that are committed to the development of the youth (especially young males) together for a friendly football match that will ultimately raise money for charity.
The football game will take place this Thursday May 29th at 6pm at Bernard’s Park. All charities can win up $1000. Simply bring 10 or more of your members and wear the color of the fraternity you support (red for Kappas and Gold or yellow for the Alphas) and enter the name of your organization into the draw.
The Classic is named in honor of two powerful community servants who dedicated their entire lives to service- (Kappa) Minister Nelson Bascome (deceased) and (Alpha) Rev. Doctor Wilbur Lowe (deceased). Current President Lloyd Holder states: “This is an awesome way to celebrate two Bermudian men who represented service, and the spirit of our community. Both of these men were avid sportsman, so honoring them in this way goes a long way to say thank-you and to continue their legacy.”
The ultimate beneficiary of this Classic will be the community as this is a family friendly event that celebrates the best of who we are. Current President of Kappa Alpha Psi Ray Jones states, “In these very trying financial times it is important that we create opportunities that allow our charities to find alternative ways of financial support as well as create positive recreational opportunities for the whole community.”
The whole community is invited to come out and support this worthwhile event. Last year’s match was won by the Men of Kappa Alpha Psi who walked away with the Trophy after a 1-0 victory over the Alphas.
