(Premier Michael Dunkley gave these answers at a press conference on Tuesday morning)
Do you think the electorate will trust the One Bermuda Alliance?
I do. I believe that there’s been some doubt about the way forward and we will rebuild on some of the challenges we’ve had and we will make sure the people are confident as we move forward
Politics is full of twisting turns in the road and I have every faith in the colleagues we have in our team.
We’ll face the good times together.
We’ll face the bad times together and we’ll be open and transparent.
On that point what can you specifically do to rebuild the public’s trust in government?
Be open and transparent and that’s what I intend to do.
It’s easy to field the very easy questions, but those difficult questions, I will ask my colleagues to step forward with those answers. You might not like the answers you get.
No one is going to be comfortable with some of our decisions moving forward.
We were elected to lead, we’ll have to lead.
Will Ministers Crockwell and Pettingill remain in the cabinet?
I have full confidence in the cabinet team that is assembled. There will be no changes in Cabinet at this time.
Will the JetGate inquiry continue?
That’s a question for the party chair. My information received is that there will be further reporting on that in coming days.
What’s the lesson to be learned from the JetGate affair in your mind?
I don’t like losing sleep.
(laughter)
