Jessica Lewis began her track season with a strong showing at the Desert Challenge meet in Arizona on Saturday.
Bermuda’s Paralympian was second out of eight in the 200m and first out of seven in the 100m.
The 100m was initially clouded in confusion after a competitor listed as Spencer finished first but was a male and, therefore, his time did not count. This cleared the way for Lewis to claim victory.
Her 800m was a solid performance, although Lewis admitted she “ran out of gas” at the 600m mark. Nevertheless, she finished third in a time of two minutes and 22.43 seconds.
And she rounded off her season-opener by finishing second in the 400m before being whisked off for a random drug test.
